ENDOSCOPIC BROW LIFT

The stretching or drooping of facial skin as we age results in eyebrows that look tired and 'heavy' and eyelids that seem too full. A brow lift is a surgical procedure that restores the brows to a more elevated and appropriate position. Dr. Howard takes great care to be conservative in this procedure and obtains a more youthful and natural appearance for his patients.

Your Surgical Experience:

A traditional brow lift involves an incision across the scalp from one ear to the other; however an endoscopic brow lift allows the procedure to be performed by smaller incisions that are buried in the hairline. The length of the procedures varies from person to person, however, on average, surgery usually takes around 1hour to complete.

An endoscopic brow lift is done under general anesthesia. This will be performed in an outpatient hospital setting.

Patients usually wear a head bandage for two days following the procedure. This is removed after 48 hours and a tennis headband is placed at the hairline until the follow up appointment.

After the Surgery

The first two days following surgery should be spent relaxing with the head elevated and applying ice packs (we suggest frozen peas if you do not have an ice pack). You will apply ice to the area(s) 30 minutes on and 30minutes off for the first 48 hours during awake hours and then 4 times a day until your recheck appointment 1 week later. This will help keep swelling to a minimum.

Initially, the forehead may feel tight. This usually resolves over the first few weeks. All patients are given prescriptions for pain killers. On average, by one week after surgery, approximately 70-80% of the swelling will have dissipated and after two weeks, close to 90% of the swelling will have dissipated. The remaining 10% will decrease over the next few weeks to perhaps a month.

You will be seen by Dr. Howard and/or Malissa Sandhu, PA-C 1-2 weeks following your procedure to ensure you are healing properly.

These procedures enable patients to see more of their peripheral vision while, at the same time, give patients a more rested and youthful appearance.

These procedures are often covered by insurance if certain criteria are met.
